Sumanth‘s mythological mystery thriller Mahendragiri Varahi is all set for its OTT debut tonight on Amazon Prime Video, following a disappointing theatrical run that began on September 11, 2026.
Prime Video Acquires Streaming Rights
Leading OTT platform Amazon Prime Video has acquired the digital streaming rights for Mahendragiri Varahi. The film will be available for streaming starting tonight across multiple languages, making it accessible to a wider audience beyond its theatrical release.
The quick turnaround from theaters to OTT follows a growing trend among Telugu films that underperform at the box office. Similar to recent releases like Godari Gattupaina, which also moved to Prime Video within weeks of its theatrical debut, Mahendragiri Varahi aims to find a second life on the streaming platform.
Theatrical Performance and Box Office
Despite opening in theaters on September 11, 2026, Mahendragiri Varahi failed to generate the expected response from audiences. While the film managed to mint some decent collections during its opening weekend, it couldn’t sustain the momentum in subsequent weeks.
The mystery thriller’s theatrical journey highlighted the challenges faced by mid-budget films in today’s competitive market, where strong word-of-mouth and audience reception are crucial for sustained success.
Cast and Production Details
Mahendragiri Varahi features an ensemble cast led by Sumanth in the lead role. The film also stars Aishwarya Rajesh, Vennela Kishore, Brahmanandam, Meenakshi Goswami, Malavika Nair, and Rajeev Kanakala in pivotal roles. Young star Sidhu Jonnalagadda appears in a key role, adding star power to the mythological mystery.
The film was jointly produced by Kalipu Madhu and Surabhi Lakshmana Rao under the banners of Rajashyamala Entertainments and Bridge Studios.
With the Mahendragiri Varahi OTT release on Prime Video tonight, viewers who missed the theatrical run can now experience the mythological mystery thriller from home.
